A Case Study on Reducing Setup Time Using SMED on a Turning Line

Today, manufacturers must meet customer demands in a shorter time with the best quality and lowest cost to survive competitive environment. One way achieve this is reduce production costs by eliminating waste activities system. Machine adjustment processes are that do not create value, Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), lean manufacturing tool, has been developed these activities. In paper we have performed case study bearing company machine setup on turning line using SMED. The emphasis given both transferring internal into external ones as many possible minimizing ones. main results attained from indicate times were reduced more than 45% for line. Consequently, capacities can be significantly increased application SMED method.
